Gordon Owen MbeTHORNHILLPassed away on 3rd June 2023, aged 88 years. Son of William and Susan Mary Thornhill. Teacher in Burton upon Trent, Ashbourne and Lichfield, 1957-1994. Funeral service at St. Paul's Church, Scropton on Friday 28th July at 12 noon. Followed by a committal at Markeaton Crematorium. Family flowers only please, donations if wished to Scropton and Foston PCC for St. Paul's Church may be left at the service. All enquiries to Wathall's 01283 205133 www.wathalls.co.uk

I had the pleasure of working with Gordon as a fellow member of the Boards of Visitors (later Independent Monitoring Boards) of HMP Sudbury and HMP Foston Hall. He wrote a history of the latter building. His other voluntary work included serving on the Derby City Council's Schools Appeals Committees.
